Make an impact with background music for retail, shopping centres and brands

Picture this: your own radio station in your stores or shopping centre. With music that suits your audience, plus your own jingles and commercials. We design it, produce it and keep it on air.

Audio marketing

Complete your strategy with our audio marketing

Music is essential to atmosphere. It is more than background noise; it is part of the overall impression. It reflects what you stand for. In store, in a shopping centre or as a brand station, for a single project or to support your online activities. Music adds value to your brand. Combine it with the right message, such as your own commercials, and your marketing mix is complete. A tailor-made retail radio station creates that experience.

No noise

The way to get your message across

The way to get your message across to your visitors, customers or colleagues. Without interference from unwanted noise, such as promotion for a competitor or the wrong choice of music. That is the power of retail radio. Many organisations have already made the move. And with our years of experience in launching, running and growing radio stations, retail radio is the way to make an impact at the moment of truth.

Who it is for

For retail, shopping centres and brands

Retail

From a single store to a national chain: one station for all your locations, in every country in its own language. Music that moves with the busy moments, plus spots for the offers that matter.

Shopping centres

A station of its own for the whole centre, with room for the retailers and the events in the centre.

Brands

A radio station of its own for your brand. For one summer, one campaign or for good, with the music and the tone of the brand.

Music

Not a playlist, but a music format

We match the music on your station to your audience. Our music department has been doing this since 1997, for several national radio stations. We learned the craft from the American pioneers of radio music research: do not guess what listeners like, measure it and build the format on that.

  • A music proposal that fits your brand and your customer, not a playlist on shuffle
  • Planned rotation: which track when, how often and next to which other track
  • Tempo and mood per daypart, matched to the busy and quiet moments
  • Enough variety for staff who are there all day, familiar for shoppers who drop in for ten minutes
  • Updated every two weeks, so the station stays fresh without losing its character
Your own station

Without your own station, every store makes its own choice

A CD in one store, a tablet with Spotify that gets switched off when it is busy in another, and somewhere an FM station playing competitor ads. With your own station, every location sounds the same and the music stays on. Always.

Airtime

Your station pays for itself

Your own station is also your own media channel. The suppliers and brands you sell want to be heard at the moment the customer is standing at the shelf. You sell that airtime yourself, to your own suppliers. That way the station pays for itself, and the customer hears exactly the products that are on sale in the store.

  • You decide which brands are heard, and how often
  • We produce the spots and schedule them, per location or nationwide
  • Never competitor ads, only brands from your own range
Brand stations

A radio station for your brand

A station does not have to be tied to a store. For a brand, we build a station of its own with that brand's music format, jingles and tone. For one summer, around a campaign or for good. In 2012, Fiat Zomer Radio (Fiat Summer Radio) was one of the first brand stations in the Netherlands. The same approach as a store station, except here the brand is the station.

Start today

Start today with professional in-store radio for your organisation

Setting up your own in-store station requires a one-off investment to configure the systems. After that you pay a fixed monthly fee, and that fee is all-inclusive. That means it covers the production of radio spots and promos, technical support, music maintenance and always being online. Set-up and launch take a few weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about in-store radio

About music, locations and rights.

Which organisations is in-store radio suitable for?

For retail and shopping centres, and for brands that want a station of their own. From a single location to a national chain across several countries.

Who chooses the music?

Our music department, based on your audience. We have been doing this since 1997 for several national radio stations. We make a proposal that fits your musical DNA, you set out your preferences and limits, and once approved we develop it into a complete music format that is updated every two weeks. Adjustments are always possible: if a track does not land or your range changes, we adapt the format.

Our locations have different sound systems. Is that a problem?

No. Whether there is a central sound system, a separate amplifier with speakers or Sonos, the station works everywhere. If the existing equipment is not up to it, we can supply a preprogrammed internet radio by arrangement.

What about music rights?

We give you detailed advice on music rights. You arrange the fees for Buma/Stemra and Sena (Netherlands) or Sabam (Belgium) directly with those organisations.

Can a brand have its own station too?

Yes. For a brand, we build a station with that brand's music format, jingles and tone. Temporarily around a campaign or season, or as a permanent brand station.

Won't it drive the staff mad?

That is what the format is built for. A customer is in the store for ten minutes, an employee all day. The rotation makes sure the station sounds familiar to customers and stays varied for staff. So it stays on.

Can we sell airtime to our suppliers?

Yes. Your own station is your own media channel. Suppliers pay you to have their products heard in your stores, at the moment the customer is standing in front of them. We produce the spots and schedule them. That way the station pays for itself.

Can we also broadcast messages for staff?

No, we advise against it. Everything that plays on the station, your customers hear too. An in-store station is there for the visitor, and internal messages do not belong on it.
